Moose Pass waterlily July 4th, 3am, Moose Pass, AlaskaMcClure's Guide Service has provided the following Alaska maps and links to help make your Alaska fishing vacation planning as easy as possible. We realise that visiting Alaska may be about more than fishing to some people. If you have chosen to add an un-structured day or two for resting or sight-seeing, we recommend a day trip to Seward Alaska to visit the sealife center, or a Kenai Fjord cruise, where you will see glaciers calving into Resurrection Bay. Spotting wildlife, marine birds and mammals like whales is quite common. There is, of course, plenty of opportunity to fish for salmon from the docks or beach. The view of mountians across Kachemak Bay from Homer AlaskaHomer Alaska offers a quaint fishing village with lots of shops and restaurants along the spit and in the heart of town, the famous Homer fishing hole, and water taxi across Kachemak Bay for sight-seeing, wildlife viewing, kayaking, clamming, and other activities. Clam Gulch Alaska, just up the road from Deep Creek in Ninilchik Alaska, a popular Halibut charter staging area, is of course all about clamming, but offer other activities as well. Opportunities abound for photography around every corner and bend in the road, so don't forget your camera.

RELEASE A HOG -- TAKE HOME A TROPHY

Kenai River Sportfishing association release a hog, takehome a trophy program

It's a great program sponsored by KRSA that pays you up to $800 (towards mounting) for catching and releasing a 50" or longer Alaska Kenai River king salmon from July 1 - July 31. KRPGA Hug a Hog program is designed to supplement this and offers similar awards for the months of May and June. You still get the thrill of hanging your prize catch on the wall. It's easy to participate, here's how it works:

  • Most important is to release the King as quickly as possible and to use proper revival techniques.
  • Fish with a guide or KRSA - KRPGA member that has registered with the KRSA - KRPGA Release a Hog -- Take Home a Trophy program.
  • Document your "catch and release" in accordance with the program rules.
  • KRSA or KRPGA will reimburse you for up to $800 toward the cost of a full size reproduction mount.
  • Hang your trophy Kenai River king salmon on your wall!

Take part in protecting and preserving one of Alaska's greatest resources, the world class Kenai River king salmon. Participate in KRSA - KRPGA catch and release program!
