Alaska Fishing Special Events Participation

As a family owned business we believe in trying to give a little back to our community by participating in the various Kenai River charitable events sponsored by Kenai River Professional Guide Association (KRPGA) and the Kenai River Sportsman Association (KRSA). In the last few years we have participated in the following events. Take a Veteran Fishing Day, Take a kid Fishing Day, Make a Wish Foundation fishing day, Salmon Celebration, and, Teach a Kid to Fish Day, which is fun and educational for the entire family.

• Take a Veteran Fishing Day

Rondi McClure and boatload of Veterans during donated fishing guide tripEach year on September 11, Veterans Day, KRPGA members volunteer to take over 100 veterans and active duty military personnel fishing at no cost. This is our way of saying thank you to the individuals who have valiantly served, and are serving, our country.

• Take A Kid Fishing Day

A child fishing from boat on Kenai River for Take A Kid Fishing DayKRPGA volunteers Steve and Rondi McClure spend one day of their busy season each year taking a kid fishing with a parent. This is their way of giving back to the community and helps kids to bond with their parents in one of the most enjoyable of Alaskan pastimes.

Each participating organizations educational program teaches something different to the children. The Department of Fish and Game allows the kids to release a trout into Johnson Lake, the Coast Guard teaches about boat safety, the KSRA gives fly fishing lessons, and the KRPGA teaches the children spin casting techniques. Indeed, in Alaska, learning about fish and how to fish is almost a necessity.

Parents wishing for their kids to participate should contact: KRPGA
